2009 Webinar Series

Overview

In 2009, The Greenway Collaborative, Inc. hosted hour long lunch time sessions that looked at specific trail or non-motorized transportation issues.

The presentations were given by Norman Cox, ASLA.  He is the founder of The Greenway Collaborative, Inc. and has 20 years of experience planning and designing trails and non-motorized transportation facilities.  He has designed the webinar to address many of the issues that The Greenway Collaborative, Inc.'s clients are currently dealing with.

Subjects

Right Trails, Right Place

It's not too hard to figure out where to locate a rail trail, but what about the other trails in your community?  What are the most appropriate ways to integrate bicycle and pedestrian travel within a road right-of-way?  What differentiates an "urban greenway" from a street that is comfortable to bike on?  This webinar will explore these and other issues facing communities developing a comprehensive trails plan.

Design and Liability Issues of Mid-block Crossings

Whether it is a trail crossing a busy street or figuring out how to get pedestrians across busy suburban arterials, locating and designing appropriate mid-block crossings is a critical safety decision.  This session will look at current best practices for signalized and unsignalized pedestrian crossings including some new and emerging signs and signals.

Planning and Signing Bike Routes
